Single vineyard Barbera d'Asti DOCG treated lovingly and simply to give an honest expression of place and variety.
Soft pressing and a long maceration. Minimal intervention winemaking.
Notes of vanilla, sour cherries and prunes. A nice heat from the 15.5% abv but it's very well integrated into the wine. Fine long finish and tannin. Like many classic Italian wines, this is a perfect food wine. And might as well make it something Italian such as a mushroom risotto or some wild/gamey meat dishes.
The vineyards are certified organic but they also utilise biodynamic methods.
I'll let the makers Luigi and Bruna explain their philosophy:
"Regarding our wines we like to say they are wines with low anthropogenic impact. To work with low anthropogenic impact means to defend the integrity of the territory itself, preserve the Wine’s individuality from the standardization that chemicals, industrialization and technology have brought to farming."
