This is a fresh and fruity Savagnin. "Naturé" is the old local name for the Savagnin. From a single vineyard called Pré Levront, most are about 20 years old but a small amount is from vines planted over 100 years ago by Francoise great grandfather.
The grapes are harvested late, by hand of course, to allow for delicate picking and sorting so that the wine is the purest expression.
Long and delicate press.
Jura wines have a famous and distinct character and expression that leaves them highly sought after amongst those won by their charms. this one is Pear, lemon and herbal with distinctive struck match oxidative style. Benefits from some time open before drinking or even decanted.
Domaine Ratte is really special. Typically for our winemakers, this is a family affair. Led by husband and wife team Michel-Henri and Francoise Ratte, and assisted by son Quentin, in the famous village of Arbois. The vineyards have been in Francoise family for generations but until 2015 the fruit, like most fruit in the famous area, has gone to large producers under life-long contracts. Meaning they have a very rare family-run/owned estate of 9 hectares of vines from famous parcels of land including Les Corees, Clos Maire and others. Most vines are 20-80 years old and some are into triple figures. We have Savagnin, lovely Jura Chardonnay, extra special Jura Chardonnay and of course some of that beautiful and rare Trousseau.
While the wines are released primed and ready to enjoy they will nearly all benefit from time well-cellared.
