This is an intensly aromatic and textural skin-contact wine. 9 months in large amfora buried in the back garden. Unfiltered of course and full of character. Dried fruits and herbs. Spice and quite high tannin. Made from 40% Gewurztraminer and 60% Palava (a local crossing of Gewurztraminer and Muller-Thurgau).
Herzanovi is another family winery that we love to feature. This one's located in the village of Kobylí, Czechia. Where they farm around 4ha of vines organically and are in conversion to certified biodynamics (they co-founded the Czech-Slovak branch of Demeter). They work mostly with typical local varieties that work so well in Moravia (Blaufrankisch, Sylvaner, Gruner Veltliner, Cabernet Moravia). This family is really making great strides with their focus on natural wines including nice use of quervi and amfora. They recently started doing pet-nats which we had but absolutely flew off the shelves so stay tuned for the next vintages.
