Luta Shadow Pinot Noir 2021 - 13%

A mix of clones, whole-bunch vs de-stemmed and macerations/fermentations. Individual parcels pressed to old french barriques for maturation. Aged on fine lees for 10 months then racked and blended together into stainless steel for a further 6 months before bottling in October 2022. The final composition is about 70% whole-bunch and 30% de-stemmed.

Bright plum, raspberry and rhubarb. Dried herbs and hint of spice. Refreshing acidity, medium bodied with rustic fine tannin. 

Exceptional value wine. Can be enjoyed now or cellared for 3-8 years.

Luta is another project of Rob and Kate Burley based in Nelson New Zealand, Unkel Wines being the original. This range is focused on two different single vineyard sites providing distinct, pure terroir expressions of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The wines are handled with care and are given longer time in barrel and bottle before release versus their Unkel Jester Range.
